Crossing a River
Today we had to stop because we came to a large river. It seems pretty deep, so we will have to build a raft for our wagon to cross on. The men went up and downt the river to see if there was a better place to cross, and it doesnt seem like there is. I guess we will get to stay put for a few days while we do this. It is a good chance for us to do some washing. I will be anxious for the raft to be done and us to get across safely, as that seems pretty dangerous...how exciting!!

Today momma, grandma, my sister and I read our bible verses while daddy, papa, and my brother went hunting for some meat. I learned alot and had a great time. The weather is nice. I hope daddy gets some rabbit, I love rabbit! We are going to look for water tomorrow, as our barrel is almost out. We have heard word that Indians are in the area, I would love to meet them! That would be very exciting! Life on the trail can be boring, but daddy says it will be worth it when we have lots of land and our own farm.

Our Journey Begins
Today our caravan left our home in Virginia for a new life in the west. Papa says we will have more freedom in our new home. Mama, Papa, Sam (my little brother), and Josiah (our dog) are making the trip along with 12 other families in wagons.
